Takaro is a suburb and constituent ward of Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand.

Takaro is located east of Highbury, west of Palmerston North Hospital Area and north of the CBD. It had a resident population of 5,340 (2001)[1]. This was the largest population base concentrated in one suburb in Palmerston North.
Takaro Bowling Club and Takaro Tennis Club provide some leisure relief here.
The Masonic Court is in Takaro.
There are two schools in Takaro, Central Normal School and Our Lady of Lourdes School.

Takaro Ward is located in the NW of Palmerston North City. The boundaries of the ward are generally considered to be Rangitikei Street in the E, and just before Cloverlea Road in the W. To the S, Pioneer Highway and to the N, the N.I.M.T.
